Account Executive

We are seeking a highly motivated sales pro to join our sales team. This is a full time position selling print, digital, email, social media & event sponsorships. Qualified candidates will have 3+ years sales experience.
Job Requirements:
  • Daily outbound sales calls & appointments
  • Ability to generate new leads & help businesses reach their marketing goals
  • Create and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Sales minded individual who is customer focused and internally driven
  • Strong telephone skills and in person communication a must
  • 3+ years Sales Experience
  • Previous experience with local businesses and overall knowledge of KC a plus
  • Experience selling one or more of the following is a plus: print, online, email, social media, events
  • Experience with Hubspot or other CRM database preferred

Part time Sales Assistant

We are looking to expand our sales team by hiring a self motivated Part Time Sales Assistant.  This lead generating position will primarily involve cold calls and email inquiries to help local business who are interested  in expanding their market reach.
3+ years sales experience required.

The Pitch is looking for story-hungry interns to start in January of 2024.

Candidates should be college juniors, seniors, or recent graduates looking for experience. We want journalists and writers with unlimited curiosity who want to expand their portfolio into news, arts, dining, and culture coverage.

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing digital stories for thepitchkc.com
  • Pitching story ideas to Editor-in-Chief of The Pitch for print or online
  • Completing one longer feature with research and interviews for consideration for magazine publication
  • Interviewing members of the community
  • Covering live events
  • Working closely with editor to improve writing and expand horizons and portfolio
  • Building multimedia stories for online release
  • Setting measurable improvement end-goals for internship experience

The internship comes with a stipend and college credit where applicable. Intern should be working in office or online between 10 and 15 hours per week. Kansas City local applicants preferred.

Previous interns have completed the program and used their expanded portfolio to secure full-time work with KCUR, The Star, and even The Pitch. Featured stories from editorial interns include in-depth investigations [KC’s houseless resettlement experimentation], expansive profiles [magazine cover story Left Hooks and Lowriders], important political issues [police training disconnect], and fascinating local curiosities [magazine cover story Pink Street Paranormal].

The internship comes with a paid stipend and college credit where applicable.

The Pitch is looking for design interns for Janaury of 2024.

Candidates should be college juniors, seniors, or recent graduates looking for experience. We’re looking for folks who would like to expand their portfolio with work in the editorial and promotional side of a local journalism outlet. 

Intern should be working in office or online around 10 hours per week. Kansas City local applicants preferred.
